So here we go!
I took off straight from my dorm. Basically, I only packed one bag for my clothes and all the other necessities. The box was for my MCAT books, lab notes, and other relevant documents.
And here I am, sitting @ the ATL Heartsfield-Jackson Intl Airport, looking at the plane I'm about to board.
And I'm here! I landed @ Flughafen Wien, Vienna Intl Airport. It was then my job to find trains that go to Olomouc, Czech.
I took S-Bahn (a fast, suburban metro) towards the outskirts of Wien (Vienna) to the train station. I also took a picture of the ticket girl, but accidently deleted it... As you can see, the houses all seemed to have tall roofs.
Through the Rennweg station (left), I took a different metro to Wien Sudbahnhof (right), or Vienna South Station, to take a train to the border of Austria into Czech.
There was this fast-track train that travels to the West through Austria. If you have seen any trailers from Bruno, you know that this would be pronounced as "veesel" haha.
This was my Supercity (express train) train to Czech. You can notice the Czech alphabets on the side of the train (with the upside-down ^) The seats were very comfortable, except the fact that I was extremely hungry at the time and had to satisfy myself only through looking at this deliciousness:
Oh, and in all of the transit system in Europe, the ticket girl/guys roam around the train and check tickets. In public transit, random ticket timestamp checks were performed.
From these interesting-looking apartments in Austria, the scenary soon turned into the endless pastures in Czech.
To ride a train into Olomouc, I had to take a different train at Breclav train station. This train station was a small transit station in a town of Breclav (pronounced Bsheczlav @_@). And the seats were quite modest yet pretty comfortable.
Quite modest, huh? haha. Nevertheless, the view was breathtaking.
At the end of the day, I settled in at the faculty housing facility. The room had a bed, a sofa bed, a sofa, a table, a bathroom, and a small kitchen.
This concludes the day 1 of my trip. More to come later! :)
